Free Season's Greetings

Season's Greetings for all!

You may wonder why a card company like Farouche would every think about giving away free holiday cards, especially during the busiest time of the year? It may seem kind of silly but, to us it makes perfect sense. We realize that the true meaning of giving can sometimes get lost in all of the hubbub. This is our way to help, we ask nothing in return, just pay it forward with kindness and hopefully together we can spread a little more good cheer!

When you print out the cards for yourself maybe consider printing a couple extra. You could slip one under the windshield wiper on someones car as a random act of kindness, or give one to that sweet little old lady down the street that doesn't seem to have much family. For some, the holidays can be really hard if money is tight or if they don't have someone to spend it with. Please tell your friends or family, these were made to be shared and help us spread good cheer this holiday season!

Our Season's Greetings cards come in two color choices, red or blue. Measuring 3 x 5 inches when folded, they fit perfectly into a 4 bar envelope that you can find at most office supply stores. We recommend using card stock to print these on for a nice card feel. Oh, and how can I forget, we also made matching gift tags so you can wrap up all of your holidays in a similar fashion!

And the winners are...

Thank you to everyone who entered our November giveaway! We always enjoy hearing other people's holiday traditions, they all sound so joyful.

One of my favorite holiday traditions happens each year at the very end of Christmas. After we have stopped by every family gathering we know of, hugged every relative in sight and eaten more food than you normally would consume in two days, we end our Christmas at Joe's father's house. There we finish the evening all curled up on the couch, or the floor, surrounded by a mountain of wrapping paper and watch The Grinch cartoon. Every year it marks the end to another great holiday.

Congratulations to Melissa and Lilly for winning our November giveaway. If you both would please email us your address and choice of holiday cards to farouche@cruzio.com, so we can ship them in time for the season. To everyone who didn't win this round we do have another little surprise that we think you might like. It will be posted very soon so check back!

Paper Fashion

For just a little while I thought it might be nice to take a break from the holiday hubbub and share these wonderful paper dresses with you. I know it is kind of kooky to think that these dresses were a bit Avant-garde, and somewhat of a rage in the sixties. Originally inspired by Pop Art, paper dresses became a fun way for companies and even politicians to get their message seen. What do you think? Maybe to be avoided if you live anywhere especially damp, which might explain why they never quite caught on as a Niagara Falls souvenir.

Squirrels

We hope ya'll had a wonderful and warm Thanksgiving yesterday. Like many of you, I had to sleep off the turkey-coma with a nap on the couch. Happily dreaming of when I might actually have room in my belly for a nice slice of pumpkin pie and apple cider.

For some reason squirrels remind me so much of this time of year. It seems like everyone starts to get cozy in their furry sweaters and enjoy the company of others a little more during the holidays. I came across the tattoo above this afternoon. I don't believe that I have ever seen a squirrel tattoo before and I must say it was well done indeed!

Mermaid Island

What girl didn't want to be a mermaid when she was little? I can even remember practicing for the day, if by some chance accident I might turn into one. My friends and I would train for hours by swimming like we had a fin instead of two legs and seeing how long we could hold our breath under water. Ah, imagination....

Shortbread

When searching for a shortbread recipe yesterday I happened upon the Brigitte-Keks. How sweet are these cookies?! They were all created with the nifty European gadget. It is a cookie cutter and letter embosser all in one. The kit comes with an assortment of type so you can imprint any message you little heart desires. I have yet to find them for sale in the states but, there seems to be several European sites that have them available. These would be so much fun for the holidays.

Happy Halloween

We hope all you fairy princesses, ghouls and goblins are well bundled up tonight and have a wonderful and safe Halloween! Just remember not to trust any old lady offering you a bite of a "magic wishing apple" and maybe steer clear of Sleepy Hallow altogether.

Foxy Fox

Just in time for this fall season- animal friendly fur. I am not sure if I have enough moxie to pull off wearing one of these "fokses" but, I like them. Handmade by Celapiu in Poland, I love the juxtaposition between the classic style of traditional fur wraps and playful use of felt and wool.

My Goodness

Most of you have probably seen the comical ad campaign for Guinness during the 1950's in which the frantic zoo keeper is always trying to save his refreshing beer from the thirsty wild animals. Well, zoo keepers truly did have something to worry about... especially when it came to the ostriches.

The black and white image of miscellaneous items above was taken by Frederick W. Bond, a photographer at the Zoological Society of London. Along with more conventional photographs of the animals in the London Zoo, he also photographed objects retrieved from the inside of an ostrich's stomach. A list of what the bird swallowed was noted on the back of the print.

Most likely the ostrich had snatched items from guests at the zoo, as well as any other random bits within it's reach. The ostrich managed to ingest a lace handkerchief, one buttoned glove, a length of rope, a man's handkerchief, coins, metal tacks, staples, hooks, and a four-inch nail... and you thought toddlers were bad!
