Chasing the Sun

Back in the spring of 2009, I took a four month long road trip with a partner from California to Alaska. As often as we could we parked the truck and put on our packs to venture out into the wilderness. On this occasion we set off toward Bedwell Lake having no clue the trail would be covered in snow. Unprepared and a bit daunted by the steep, snowy and very often slippery ascent, we refused to be deterred and trudged up anyway. To our delight, we were stunned by this awe-inspiring view and despite our exhaustion we delighted in setting up a cozy camp in this wonderful spot full of serenity and solitude.

What a cool spot to wake up to in the morning, even if you were freezing cold!

Crazy! I have always wanted to do something like this but I always find an excuse to sleep at a lodge instead! I guess I will make it to 90 without frost bite! HA!:)
